In September 2010, Clark Carter and Andrew Johnson will attempt to travel along the Sepik river - from source to sea. The Sepik is the longest river in Papua New Guinea and passes through some of the most rugged and unspoiled wilderness on Earth.
The plan is to trek to the Source of the Sepik from the settlement of Telefomin. They'll then make their way through the jungle, following the trickle of water, carrying all of their provisions, until the river becomes substantial enough to launch their inflatable kayak. Once they pass the upper reaches (and rapids) of the Sepik, the pair aim to purchase a dugout canoe from one of the tribal settlements on the river. They'll use the dugout for the remaining 900 kilometres (or so) until they reach the Bismark Sea... and the end of their adventure.
